Mr George was delayed for 17 hours with Austrian Airlines and received €250 compensation!

I had been on business trip in Vienna and was departing from Vienna International airport. We were queuing at the gate, expecting to board the plane, before they told us our flight had actually been cancelled and that the next available flight would be at noon the following day. It was very hard to get any information out of the airline.

Eventually we were taken to a nearby hotel where we would be spending the night. The airline did give us a 12 Euro food voucher each for our evening meal but I had been hungry and had already eaten by then – and you don’t get much for 12 Euros. The food in the hotel did not look very good either!

The airline wanted to take us back to the airport on a bus at 7 o’clock the following morning although our flight was not until 12 noon. A few of us persuaded the Airline to send a taxi back for us nearer the flight time to save us waiting at the airport for 5 hours. I used this time to cancel the meetings I should have been attending that day. In all I had a 16 hour delay.

I found Airdelay.co.uk online and submitted my claim straightaway. The website was very easy to use and I received regular email updates about the status of my claim. I would definitely recommend them to family and friends and will definitely use them again if I need to claim for a delayed flight in the future. I was still entitled to compensation even though the Airline supplied accommodation and a food voucher.

I spent my €250 compensation on two very good bottles of Whiskey during a distillery tour, I would normally have bought the cheaper ones!
