Miss Tsang was delayed for 12 hours with Emirates and received €3000 compensation!

My husband, myself and our 2 children were flying with Emirates to Mauritius. Gatwick to Dubai was the first leg of our journey, from Dubai we were to get a connecting flight on to Mauritius, for a family holiday.

Our flight was supposed to be departing from Gatwick at 10 PM but at check in we were told that there was a delay until the following day, as there as a technical problem with our plane and it had not left Dubai yet. We waited around the airport until Emirates had some more information about the new flight time. Luckily they were also arranging hotel accommodation for us, for the night.

We eventually left Gatwick at 11AM the following morning, of course we had missed our onward flight from Dubai as well. One of my children is autistic and I had paid extra when I booked the holiday, specifically to have a shorter (3 hour) transfer time in Dubai.

As we were delayed in Gatwick for 13 hours we missed our intended flight out of Dubai and ended having to wait around in Dubai airport for a further 7 hours. We were very disappointed. Not only was the travelling made harder than it should have been but we also missed a day of our holiday.

At check in, when we were first told that there was a delay to our flight, we had been handed a letter by the check in staff saying that we would not be eligible to claim flight delay compensation for the delay, as it was a technical problem. When we got back to the UK I thought I would have a look online to find out a bit more information about claiming delay compensation.

Of course several companies flashed up I read some reviews and testimonials. Air Delay seemed to have the best reviews so that’s who I decided to go with. I input our flight details and immediately got notification that we could be eligible for compensation. Of course I was a little skeptical, you often are when you see "no win no fee"! But I received regular updates about the status of my claim and a few weeks later our compensation cheques arrived in the post – a total of £1,700 – that’s after flight Delay took their 25% fee. Our compensation money will most likely be spent towards another family holiday!

I would not hesitate to recommend Air Delay to anyone who could be entitled to claim flight delay compensation, it was easy to complete the online form, they do everything for you. No hassle at all.
