Mr Brown was delayed for 3.5 hours with British Airways and received €300 compensation!
My wife and I were travelling from London Heathrow to Cape Town for a holiday. Once checked in for our flight, we went through security and made our way to our boarding gate. We boarded and got settled into our seats, ready for the eleven-and-a-half-hour flight to Cape Town. After some time, it was announced that there was a going to be a delay to the flight and eventually, after waiting 45 minutes, we were asked to get back off the plane as there was a mechanical issue that had to be fixed.
I have to point out that British Airways were absolutely excellent in how they dealt with the delay. We had to stay in the departure lounge while the plane was being worked on. As it was a late night flight, there were no passengers from other flights in the lounge area and British Airways closed the lounge and got Caffe Nero opened up for us and proceeded to handout free drinks and food while we waited. They also gave us updates every half hour or so about our new expected departure time. British Airways could have done nothing more for us, other than get us back on the plane and on our way. BA were brilliant.
In the end we were delayed for four and a half hours, this was very tiring as it was already a late night flight. It also meant we arrived in Cape Town having missed half a day of our holiday and were so tired we could do nothing for our first day there, apart from catch up on some sleep.
I had heard and seen adverts about claiming flight delay compensation and thought why not give it a try. So pleased I did. I found Air Delay online, their website was so easy to use, my claim was submitted within in a few minutes. Air Delay did a wonderful job, emailing me regularly with updates, right up until we received our 300 Euro (each) compensation. We spent this on another weekend break! I have already recommended them to a friend, and will definitely recommend them again!
Although the delay was very inconvenient at the time, BA did an excellent job keeping us happy and it Air Delay made it very easy to submit our claim, so it was not a that bad an experience!
